Accounts Payable/Inventory Control Specialist

Location: Santa Cruz, CA

Do you want to be a key contributor with a fast-paced local business? Big Creek Lumber Company, a leading supplier of lumber and building materials in central California, seeks an Accounts Payable/Inventory Control Specialist for our Santa Cruz retail yard with the goal of developing into an Operations Manager for the branch.

What you’ll do:

  • Perform all aspects of the accounts payable function at the branch level
  • Complete day-end and month-end processes with a high degree of accuracy
  • Verify accuracy of customer invoices
  • Maintain a high level of integrity in our inventory control systems
  • Monitor management reports for exceptions
  • Work closely with branch manager to ensure operational functions are consistently completed
  • Performing other job related office functions

  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong, effective skills in organization, accuracy, communications, office math
  • Skill in general bookkeeping procedures, 10-key and office computer applications
  • Ability to work effectively with others to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Ideal candidate has at least an associate degree in accounting or business

What success looks like:

  • All vendor invoices are paid timely and accurately
  • Inventory in computer can be relied on for accuracy
  • All reports are updated and all discrepancies resolved by month-end

What your schedule will be:

  • Full-time on-site
  • Monday-Friday plus occasional Saturdays
  • Shift may vary, covering business hours from 6:30 AM – 5:30 PM
  • Must be consistently available to work key dates within monthly cycle (business day before and including 10th and 25th of each month)
