Central Purchasing / Replenishment Manager

Location: Watsonville, CA

General Job Description: Responsible for complete inventory management/ replenishment for Big Creek’s retail branches by monitoring, purchasing and distributing all commodity products, roofing, sheetrock, decking, redwood, and insulation.  Building and maintaining vendor relationships to maximize Big Creek’s position in the market. Continually improving the department to meet the needs of the company and our customers.

Reports to: Retail Division Manager

Hours: M-F, 40-45 hours per week, additional hours when necessary

Major Responsibilities:

Purchasing:

  • Purchase commodity products, roofing, sheetrock, decking, redwood, and insulation to support Big Creek’s retail supply chain
  • Evaluate vendor quotes and services to determine the most desirable suppliers
  • Develop purchasing programs to maximize margin opportunities
  • Determine inventory replenishment quantities and timing
  • Effectively distribute inventory among branches
  • Develop successful working relationships with vendors and retail branches
  • Resolve vendor disputes
  • Update standards buy pricing on a biweekly basis
  • Stay current with industry and market trends
  • Review success of previous orders and programs
  • Research new trends in product lines to make appropriate buying decisions
  • Visit all retail branches on a quarterly basis to ensure familiarity with the products in each market area
  • Continuously improving the department to meet the needs of Big Creek and our customers

Marketing the Company:

  • Present a positive image of professionalism and promptness to our vendors and customers
  • Promote the department in a way that fits the core beliefs and values of the company
  • Contribute new ideas to improve effectiveness of purchasing and increase margin opportunities

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to effectively use financial information in decision making
  • Ability to travel to Big Creek’s retail locations, vendor sites and trade shows as needed

Evaluation Factors:

  • All branches are consistently stocked at appropriate levels
  • Stock outages decrease and all orders are consistently covered, on time and in full
  • Average price of inventory maximizes margin opportunities and gross margin dollars increase

Compensation:

Big Creek offers the following compensation package:

  • Salary Range: $73K – 101K
  • Starting annual salary range is depending on experience and demonstrated ability
