General Job Description:
Fleet Mechanic II and III are journey level classifications in the series. Required to perform a wide variety of inspection, diagnosis, repair and maintenance work on a variety of gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles and other equipment. Repair and maintain equipment in a timely, cost effective, safe and customer friendly manner. Prepare and complete paperwork in a timely manner. Communicate all parts and equipment needs in a timely fashion. Must have own tools.
Primary Responsibilities:
Maintaining Equipment:
- Perform skilled maintenance and repair work on a wide variety gas and diesel powered equipment
- Make field and emergency repairs as needed
- Perform periodic safety inspections on fleet
- Perform welding for repair or fabrication of parts and equipment
- Keep accurate and legible records
- Must do all services in a safe manner
- Communicate parts needs in an effective and timely manner
- Consistently demonstrate safe work habits and follow all company rules
Experience & Training:
Must have:
- Knowledge of tools, equipment and procedures used in the overhaul, repair and adjustment of automotive and other power-driven equipment
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions, read at least 8th grade level and write legibly
- Valid CA driver’s license (Class A preferred) and safe driving record
- Ability to:
- Grasp with left and right hands
- Use fine hand manipulation
- Perform manual labor involving frequent bending, pulling, pushing, lifting climbing and carrying of weights up to 75 lbs.
- Hear and distinguish various sounds, such as abnormal equipment sounds
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people at all levels throughout the organization
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Provide and maintain the necessary complement of tools
Compensation Package:
- Wage range of $28.00-40.00/hour depending on experience, knowledge and skill
