Scholarship Recipients
Congratulations to Alex Castro-Neri and Caeden Murphy, our 2021 McCrary Family Scholarship recipients!
Caeden Murphy: Caeden will be continuing his education in the Electrical Lineworker Program at NortAlex Castro-Neri: Alex will be continuing his education in the Construction Management program at Hartnell Community College, where he will also be running for the Hartnell track team. He hopes to one day earn his degree in electrical engineering. Alex was raised in Guatemala and came to the United States for high school to pursue his education. In a short time, he became fluent in four languages, including English. During his high school career, Alex excelled at academics, soccer, and track and field. His passion for electrical engineering was ignited when he got a job apprenticing with an electrician. He has also worked as a cabinet maker and enjoys blending trade skills with creativity and art. Alex is a bright and hardworking young man and we have no doubt he will succeed in his future endeavors.

During his high school career, Caeden proved his willingness to work hard while pursuing his education and interests by participating in FFA and 4-H, playing football and baseball, working full-time at a feed store, and participating on the Paso Robles High School SkillsUSA Welding Team (where he earned the 2019 California SkillsUSA Welding Shielded Metal Arc State Champion, and was a 2020 SkillsUSA Region 2 Welding MIG Gold Medalist). We wish Caeden all the best in his future endeavors and have no doubt that he will be successful in his future career.

How long have you worked at Big Creek? I have worked here for 2 ½ years.
What is your favorite part of working for Big Creek? My favorite part of working for BCL is: The Company and the people who work here are great!
What’s your favorite product that we sell? My favorite products are the engineered decking such as Trex & Azek and the railing systems that go with them. There are so many beautiful choices.
What do you like to do for fun? For fun I like to spend time with my kids, hike, kayak, garden, and play with my dog Wilson.

Market Report
The Green Douglas Fir market is soft with prices coming off, however lead times are still out a ways. The Plywood and OSB markets are both flat with long lead times.
We could see all Markets pickup this month if buyers step back in to cover needs.
