Join is in welcoming our new Director of Human Resources and Risk Management, Elvia Torres. We asked her a few questions so we could all get to know her a little better.

You’ve been at Big Creek for over a month now, what are your first impressions of Big Creek? I’m very impressed with the longevity within the organization. That speaks volumes about the employees and company. I’m very excited about being able to be a part of the company and looking forward to working and getting to know everyone within the organization.

What are you most excited about your new position at Big Creek? I’m excited about learning about the whole business.  Being able to connect all the pieces of the organization.

What do you enjoy most about your career in HR? I really enjoy working with people.  Being able to learn and teach what I’ve learned thought my career, while adding value to BCL.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work? I love spending time with my girls. I have three, one 24-year-old and twins that are 15, who keep me on my toes. I enjoy cooking, spending time with my family and friends. Love to go to concerts, music therapy. 😊 I treasure all the pockets of time I have with everyone in my life. It’s the simple things that make my life full and I treasure the most.
